This extension is suitable for use when creating accessible courses.

The Glossary extension is an editable glossary of course terms.

This article provides an overview of the Glossary extension, extension setup, and provides examples of Glossary extension configurations.

Extension overview


The Glossary extension is an editable glossary of course terms.

You enable the Glossary extension in the Extensions section in your Evolve course.

Extension set up


To enable the Glossary extension in your Evolve course, press the Extensions button in the top left and select Glossary.


General section

In the General section:

  1. Add Glossary Title. This is the title to be displayed on the Glossary page.
  2. Add Glossary Description. This description is displayed on the Glossary page. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  1. Add Search Input Placeholder. This text is displayed in the search input above the Glossary items.
  2. Add Search Input ARIA Label, as needed.
  3. Add Search Description Label. This text is displayed in the search description checkbox label.
  4. Scroll down the page and add No Items Found Text. This is the text displayed when no items are found after searching.
  5. Add Glossary Page ARIA Label for screen readers, as needed.

Hero Image Section


In the Hero Image section:

  1. Toggle to enable Add Hero Image.
  2. Add Hero Image Title.
  3. Add Hero Image Body. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  1. In the Hero Image Graphic section, select a Hero Image to display.
  2. Set Image Per Device Size, as needed.
  3. Add Hero Image Alt Text as needed.

Scroll down to make settings for Hero Image Content Layout:

  1. Set Hero image title and body container layout. By default, this is set to Center.
  2. Set Hero image title and body container width. By default, this is set to 70.

In the Hero Image Floating Graphic section:

  1. Select a Floating Graphic.
  2. Add Floating Graphic Alt Text, as needed.
  3. Scroll down the page and set Floating Graphic Position. By default, this is set to Bottom right.
  4. Set Floating Graphic Offset Position.
  5. Toggle to enable Show on Large Screen Size Only.

Appearance


  1. In the Appearance section, select Glossary Navigation Button Icon. This icon will be displayed in the navigation.
  2. Select Glossary Header Icon. This icon will be displayed in the glossary header.

Note: The icon/icons set in the Appearance section will override the icon set in the Evolve theme.

Add Glossary Items


In the Glossary Items section, you Add Glossary Items to your Glossary extension.

For each Glossary Item:

  1. Add the Glossary Term.
  2. Add a Glossary Term Description. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.

Below is an example that illustrates how the Glossary extension can look like in an Evolve course:
