Outline

This extension is suitable for use when creating accessible courses.

The Course Assessment extension lets you analyze all the question components in a course and present a detailed visualization that gives feedback on the assessment and breakdowns of individual questions.

This article provides an overview of Course Assessment extension, extension setup, and provides examples of Course Assessment extension configurations.

Extension overview


The Course Assessment extension lets you analyze all the question components in a course and present a detailed visualization that gives feedback on the assessment and breakdowns of individual questions. The Course Assessment extension can be configured to choose how many retakes the learner has for completing the assessment in the course.

You enable the Course Assessment extension in the Extensions section in your Evolve course.

Extension set up


To enable the Course Assessment extension in your Evolve course, press the Extensions button in the top left and select Course Assessment.


General section

In the General section:

  1. In the Assessment Page section, start by adding an Assessment Title. This is the title displayed on the top of the assessment page.
  2. Scroll down and add an Assessment Body. This is the body displayed on the top of the assessment page. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  3. Add an Assessment Page ARIA Label as needed.
  1. Add a Completion Dialog Title. This is the title text for the completion dialog.
  2. Add a Completion Dialog Body. This is the body text for the completion dialog. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.

In the Assessment Feedback section, add Passed Feedback text. This feedback is displayed on the assessment page if the learner has passed the assessment. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.

Add Failed Feedback text. This feedback is displayed on the assessment page if the learner has failed the assessment. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.

In the Assessment Results section:

  1. Add Results Score label text.
  2. Add No Results Text.
  3. Add Results Overview Text.
  4. Scroll down and add Results Breakdown Text.
  5. Add Progress Description.
  1. Add Results Screen – Component Not Complete.
  2. Add Results Screen – Component Score Prefix.
  3. Add Results Screen – View Detail Text.
  4. Add Results Screen – View Component Text.
  5. Add Results Screen – Questions Completed Text.
  6. Add Results Screen – Component Breakdown Correct Text.
  7. Add Results Screen – Component Breakdown Incorrect Text.
  8. Add Results Screen – Amount of Questions Correct Text.
  1. Add Item Breakdown Section – Component Breakdown Title Text.
  2. Add Results Screen – Component Breakdown Body Text.
  3. Add Item Breakdown Section – Attempt Taken Text.
  4. Add Results Screen – Average Attempts Taken Text.
  5. Add Results Screen – Show Feedback Button Text.
  6. Add Results Screen – Incomplete Feedback Text. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.

Behavior Section


In the Behavior section:

  1. In the Assessment Pass Mark section, set the Pass Mark Percentage. This set the percentage of questions the learner must answer correctly to pass this assessment. By default, this is set to 60.
  2. In the Assessment Question section, toggle to Include All Questions.
  3. Choose Included questions in the assessment by clicking the Select Components dropdown and selecting the desired questions.
  4. Toggle to Disable assessment question feedback.
  5. Toggle to Disable show answer.
  6. Toggle to enable the setting Hide question marking. Enabling this setting will hide the marking icons in the items and buttons in the assessment components.

Note: If the setting Enable All Questions in the Course is enabled, the option Select question components will be hidden.

  1. In the Assessment Retakes section, toggle to enable Allow Assessment Retakes. When enabling Allow Assessment Retakes, the following settings will be available:
  2. Set Retake Attempts. By default, this is set to 1.
  3. Toggle to Allow Unlimited Retake Attempts. With this setting enabled, the learner can retake the assessment until they pass.
  4. Toggle to enable Hide Retake on Assessment Passed. This setting will hide the assessment retake button if the learner passes the assessment.
  5. Toggle to enable Only Reset Incorrect Questions on Retake. Enabling this will only reset incorrect assessment questions when the assessment is retaken.
  6. Set Retake Navigation. This is where the learner is taken when the assessment is retaken. Select Course Menu, First Assessment Question Page, First Assessment Question, Select Link, or No Navigation.

Note: When selecting Select Link, you will in the Course Assessment extension get an option to create a link to somewhere inside the course.

  1. Scroll down and set Retake Assessment Button Text. This is the text displayed on the retake assessment button.
  2. Add Retake Attempts Prefix Text. This text is displayed just before the retake attempts on the results screen.
  3. Add Retake Assessment Notify Title. This is the title displayed in the notification just before resetting an Assessment.
  4. Add Retake Assessment Notify Body. This is the text displayed under the title in the notification just before resetting an Assessment.
  5. Add Retake Assessment Notify Confirm Button Text. This is the text displayed in the confirm button.
  6. Add Retake Assessment Notify Cancel Button Text. This is the text displayed in the cancel button.
  1. In the Assessment Page section, toggle to Hide Assessment Breakdown.
  2. Toggle to Show Close Course Button. Enabling this will add a close course button to the course assessment page.
  3. Add Close Course Button Text.
  4. In the Assessment Completion Dialog section, toggle to Disable Course Assessment Completed Dialog.
  5. By default, the setting Show Assessment Link Button in Completed Dialog is enabled. Toggle to disable this setting.
  6. Toggle to enable Show Assessment Results Overview in Completed Dialog.
  7. Toggle to enable Show Retake Assessment Button in the Assessment Completed Dialog.

Note: The Close Course Button Text is only available when enabling Show Close Course Button.

Note: For the Show Retake Assessment Button to be available, the setting Allow Retakes need to be enabled.

  1. In the Assessment Results section, the setting Show Score as Percentage is enabled, by default. Toggle this setting to disable.
  2. By default, the setting Question Completed Counter is set to Show. Click on Hide to hide this setting.
  3. By default, the setting Questions Correctly Answered Counter is set to Show. Click on Hide to hide this setting.
  4. By default, the setting Attempts Taken Counter is set to Show. Click on Hide to hide this setting.
  5. Toggle to Save Score to Variable.
  6. If Save Score to Variable is enabled, the Save Score to Variable When is shown and set to Assessment Completed by default. Click on Assessment Score Changed if you want to change this setting.
  7. Select Variable or Create Variable as needed.
  8. Select the Variable Save Type. Choose the option Replace, Increment or Decrement.

Hero Image Section


In the Hero Image section:

  1. In the Hero Image section, toggle to Add Hero Image. This will show a hero image for the Course Assessment extension.
  2. Scroll down and add a Hero Image Title.
  3. Add a Hero Image Body. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.

In the Hero Image Graphic section:

  1. Select a Hero Image to display.
  2. Set Image Per Device Size, as needed.
  3. Add Hero Image Alt Text as needed.

Scroll down to make settings for Hero Image Content Layout:

  1. Set Hero image title and body container layout. By default, this is set to Center.
  2. Set Hero image title and body container width. By default, this is set to 70.

In the Hero Image Floating Graphic section:

  1. Select a Floating Graphic.
  2. Add Floating Graphic Alt Text, as needed.
  3. Set Floating Graphic Position. By default, this is set to Bottom right.
  4. Set Floating Graphic Offset Position.
  5. Toggle to Show on Large Screen Size Only.

Appearance Section


  1. In the Appearance section, select Course Assessment Navigation Button Icon. This icon will be displayed in the navigation.
  2. Add a Course Assessment Header Icon. This icon will be displayed in the course assessment results header.

Note: The icons set in the Appearance section will override the icons set in the theme.
