Outline

Pages help you develop holistic, engaging content by empowering you to create, curate, and blend components to create a single learning activity. Pages combine a simple, but powerful text editor with formatting tools and modular components for intuitive content development, and next-level engagement.

This article provides an overview of each component type that can be added to a page and highlights the formatting options available for each component.

Text Components


Add a Text Component

Simply start typing to add a new text component to a page.

Formatting Text Components

The styling ribbon lets you bold or italicize text, add a hyperlink, add H1 or H2 headers, create a bulleted or numbered lists, or format text as a block quote.

Selecting text in a Page opens a formatting options menu.

Heads Up!

You can use common keyboard commands within Pages to format selected text (e.g. Ctrl/Cmd + b to bold your text).
You can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + z to undo changes to text, restoring content that was altered or deleted.

Pages support markdown to assist in formatting. For example, you can use markdown and enter *** at the beginning of a new line to separate your text or components with a horizontal line.

Photo Components


Add a Photo Component

Add images to a page by clicking the add component icon and selecting Add Photo. You'll be prompted to select an image for upload to the page. Photo components have a file size limitation of 10MB.

Formatting a Photo Component

After an image is uploaded, selecting it on the page reveals image options that let you customize the appearance of the image on the page, add a link to the image, add alt text for the image, and include a caption for the image.

Video Components


Add a Video Component

Add video to a page by clicking the add component icon and selecting Add Video. You'll be prompted to select a video for upload to the page. Video components have a file size limitation of 3GB.

Formatting a Video Component

After a video is uploaded, selecting it on the page reveals options that let you customize the appearance of the video on the page, add a closed caption file for the video, or add a caption to the video.

Add a Link component by selecting the add component icon and selecting Add Link.  Drop a URL in the address bar and watch our open-asset platform at work.

If you're linking to media from Youtube, the platform will generally embed it in the page for learners to view. For other URLs, learners will see a preview of linked content with a prompt to visit the link.

Link components can not be formatted once added. Link components can be removed and/or replaced as needed.

File Components


Add a File Component

Add a File component by selecting the add component icon and selecting Add File. You'll be prompted to select a file for  upload to the page. File components have a file size limitation of 10MB.

File components can be documents, spreadsheets, slide decks, etc. Upload any file your learners need to be able to access. Our open-asset platform identifies the type of file added to the page and gives learners the appropriate option to interact with each file.

Formatting a File Component

File components can not be formatted once added. File components can be removed and/or replaced as needed.

HTML Components


Add an HTML Component

Add an HTML component by selecting the add component icon and selecting Add HTML.

Formatting an HTML Component

HTML components can be customized using a built-in editor that supports HTML and markdown formatting for text and graphics, as well as embedding content from the web.

  1. Click the + icon and select Add HTML .
  2. Use the HTML Embed Code Editor to add and edit HTML/markdown.
  3. Preview and Save your content.
  4. The page is updated with your HTML component content. Select the component and click the <> icon to edit the component.

Heads Up!

Custom code added to HTML components is not validated by the platform. Adding incorrect code as an HTML component may cause issues on a page.

Moving Page Components


Photo, Video, Link, File and HTML components can be moved within a page by clicking on the component and dragging it to a new location.
