The canvas element in Evolve lets you build your own graphics using images and text, which are arranged into layers. For recreating screenshots, diagrams, illustrations, and more. To get started, add a canvas element to your column.

Then select Open Editor to begin creating your canvas. This opens a new window where you can zoom in and out using the controls at the bottom. In the design tab on the right-hand side, you can add a background image to your canvas. Or if you prefer, select a background color.

In the settings tab, you can choose a dimension for height and width, and also add any alt text for accessibility purposes. To add content to your Canvas, select the add content icon from the top left, where you can choose from either text or image.

Selecting "image" places a default graphic which you can drag around the page, and resize using the handles. You can replace the default image in the settings tab. We're going to add an image of a browser window and make it larger on the canvas. Now I want to add another image that will sit over the browser window. This will be a screenshot that appears as if it is showing in the browser window.

Again, I replace the image from the library,

and drag it to the correct size.

In the image settings, you can configure the image further, and in the Settings tab , you can fine-tune the positioning via coordinates , change the size using pixel values, and more.

Now let's also add some text to my image, which I can edit in place, and then modify using the connected textbox tools, then change things such as text size, color, alignment, and padding via the design tab.

I can then drag that text into place. At the top right of the editor are some further tools to help you. You can find an undo button,

to go back through your work, along with re-do.

Your layers are contained within this menu icon. Here you can reorder, hide, and lock your items.

Locking a layer stops it from being moved around on the canvas. Once you are happy, use the back arrow in the top left to return to your page builder. One of the great benefits of Canvas is that it's easy to duplicate an existing image,

and use it to save time when creating multiple similar graphics with slightly different elements.

Additionally, any future updates to text, translations, or imagery that needs updating can be quickly implemented.
