Evolve’s Future: What You Can Expect (and How to Help Shape It)
Outline

On September 9, 2025, we released the next era of Evolve, a reimagined version built from the ground up with an AI-ready architecture. This rebuild keeps what you already love about Evolve while introducing a faster, more intuitive way to create content and setting the stage for future innovations.
The new Evolve is the default product for all net-new sign ups, but as an existing customer we don’t want you to miss out! You have the opportunity to request a free 30-day preview of the new Evolve, while still maintaining full, uninterrupted access to your existing Evolve account. After the preview, you can choose to continue with a paid subscription, keep working only in Legacy Evolve, or even use both side by side.
Why Rebuild? Unlocking What’s Next
Over time, the technology powering Evolve hit limits. The new version removes those barriers and in short order makes possible:
A modern design built for speed: By rebuilding the Page Builder and Theme Builder from the ground up, we created a true WYSIWYG experience. Teams can now build engaging, on-brand content much faster, which makes onboarding new instructional designers easier than ever.
Native AI: The new Evolve’s simplified, linear course structure and rebuilt backend are designed so AI can interpret Evolve’s content with ease, something AI cannot do with SCORM packages. This opens the door for future capabilities like full curriculum creation, mapped objectives, assessments, and interactions. These AI features are not part of the September 9 release, but this foundation means we can deliver them faster and more effectively than vendors trying to bolt AI onto older systems.
Granular, enhanced event-level tracking: Evolve already captures detailed learner interactions at the event level, tied directly to course content, something not possible with SCORM or xAPI alone. The new Evolve keeps this capability and structures it so it is even more ready for the Intellum Platform’s upcoming AI-driven insights and personalization features.
Improved Cloud Sync Platform integration (coming soon): Cloud Sync makes it easy to publish Evolve courses directly into the Intellum Platform, where you can take advantage of advanced reporting and workflows like translation automation. These improvements are not part of the September 9 release, but they are a high-priority focus after launch.

What’s in the Initial Release
The new Evolve includes powerful capabilities designed to make authoring faster, more visual, and easier to learn without sacrificing the creative control existing customers rely on:
A modern WYSIWYG Builder that allows you to create courses from scratch or with pre-built templates, making it easier to get started and faster to finish.
Advanced theming with live preview, so you can apply and customize themes and branding, and see the changes as you make them.
A redesigned Theme Management UI with the ability to override designs at the course level for ultimate flexibility.
New and improved quality-of-life features like manual and automatic backups and localization make it easier to manage course iterations and deliver multilingual content.
An expanded set of interactive and assessment elements, preserving the high-impact, learner-engaging experiences Evolve is known for.
A redesigned Comments experience that makes collaboration easier, with the ability to leave precise, in-context feedback directly within a course.
The Roadmap Ahead
We are shipping updates to the new Evolve on a rapid cadence, so you will see more of the features you depend on appearing in the coming weeks and months. Here is what you can expect next for the remainder of 2025:
Late September: Additional interactive elements, including Hotgraphic, iFrame embed, and Card Drop. Also new course-specific theme previews so you can see exactly how a theme renders a course.
Late October: Theme management dashboard, custom color palette, and custom fonts. Plus, drag-and-drop elements into new locations in a course and drag-and-drop columns to reorder them.
Mid-Q4: Intellum Platform integration begins. This will bring Cloud Sync, improved tracking and reporting, immersive inline Evolve courses in the Platform, and the ability to create new Evolve activities directly from the Intellum Platform using the AI Creator Agent.
Late-Q4: A rebuilt Logic experience that is easier and more intuitive, giving you the same power with a smoother workflow.
This roadmap is designed to help you decide when the new Evolve is right for your team. You can preview now, continue working in Legacy, or adopt the new Evolve once the features you rely on are in place.
Evolve Legacy Continues to be Supported
If you’re using Evolve Legacy today, nothing changes with the release of the new Evolve:
Your courses will keep running.
Your workflows and customizations remain intact
You can keep working in Evolve Legacy while exploring the new Evolve at your own pace.
All of the features you rely on in Legacy Evolve today, including multilingual course support, will continue to be supported. We have no plans to roll back existing functionality in Legacy. At the same time, new innovation and enhancements will focus on the new Evolve, including a rebuilt Logic experience and expanded features already detailed in the roadmap.
What About My Current Content?
Legacy and the new Evolve are separate subscriptions. While courses built in Legacy cannot yet be edited in the new Evolve, we are building a migration path so that your existing courses can be brought forward and modified there. This will give you the option to move completely into the new Evolve over time, without losing the work you have already invested.
An Invitation to Early Adopters
The new Evolve is designed so anyone can start creating quickly, making it a perfect place to experiment while keeping production work in Legacy Evolve.
As an early adopter, you can:
Explore the new, streamlined authoring experience built to support future AI capabilities.
Battle test new features as they are released.
Provide critical feedback that directly shapes our roadmap.
You’ll see where Evolve is headed, contribute your voice to that future, and do it without risk to your current content and workflows.
Pricing and Access to the New Evolve
Every existing Evolve customer account will be able to request a free 30-day preview of the new Evolve. This offer is completely optional and can be activated at any time. You will keep full, uninterrupted access to your Legacy account.
After your 30-day preview, you will only need to pay for the new Evolve if you want to continue using it. If you are not ready, your new Evolve account will simply go dormant. We will preserve any data and courses you created in the new Evolve for at least 180 days, making it easy to restore your work if you decide to start a paid subscription within that window.
Legacy Evolve and the new Evolve are separate products. In the near term, this gives you flexibility: you may continue using Legacy, adopt the new Evolve, or even run both side by side. Over the longer term, our investment and innovation will be focused on the new Evolve. Legacy will remain supported during this transition period, but as migration tools become available and the new Evolve grows more feature-rich, customers will have a clear and confident path to move their subscriptions into the new product.

FAQs
Do I have to switch to the new Evolve right now?
No. The new Evolve is available to explore today, but Legacy Evolve will continue to be supported. You can keep working in Legacy while trying the new version at your own pace.
How long are you offering a free preview of the new Evolve?
Every existing Evolve customer can request a 30-day free preview of the new Evolve. This gives you the chance to explore the new experience while we continue releasing the powerful elements that make Evolve the most flexible and capable authoring tool on the market. Legacy Evolve will remain supported during this transition period, but our long-term investment and innovation are focused on the new Evolve. Once migration tools are available and the new Evolve is more feature-rich, customers will be able to move their subscriptions over with confidence.
Is the preview required?
No. The 30-day preview is optional and can be activated at any time. If you are not ready to explore the new Evolve, you can continue using Legacy without interruption.
What happens after my 30-day preview ends?
If you want to keep using the new Evolve, you will need a paid subscription. If you are not ready, your preview account will simply go dormant. We will preserve any data and courses you created in the new Evolve for at least 180 days, so you can restore your work if you decide to subscribe later.
Do I need to pay for both Legacy Evolve and the new Evolve?
Legacy Evolve and the new Evolve are separate products. Some teams choose to subscribe to both during the preview period so they can continue production work in Legacy Evolve while experimenting with the new Evolve. You have complete control over whether you subscribe to one or both.
Will my existing Legacy Evolve courses still work?
Yes. All of the features you rely on in Legacy Evolve today will continue to be supported. We have no plans to roll back functionality in Legacy Evolve.
Can I edit my Legacy Evolve courses in the new Evolve?
Not yet. Courses built in Legacy cannot currently be edited in the new Evolve. We are building a migration path that will allow you to bring your courses forward so they can be modified in the new version.
How long will Legacy Evolve be supported?
We do not have a sunset date for Legacy Evolve. It will continue to be supported so you can keep your existing courses and workflows running. At the same time, new features and innovation will focus on the new Evolve.
Is the new Evolve just an update to Legacy Evolve?
No. The new Evolve was rebuilt from the ground up with a modern UI, an AI-ready architecture, and a simplified course structure. It is a separate product designed for faster authoring, richer integrations, and future innovation.
What is included in the new Evolve today?
The initial release includes a modern WYSIWYG Builder, advanced theming with live preview, a redesigned Theme Management UI, quality-of-life features like backups and localization, new collaboration tools, and an expanded set of interactive and assessment elements.
What features are coming next?
You can find details in the Roadmap section above. Upcoming releases include additional interactive elements, new course and theme settings, Platform integration with Cloud Sync and the AI Creator Agent, and a rebuilt Logic experience.
Why was a rebuild necessary instead of improving Legacy Evolve?
Incremental changes to Legacy would not have allowed us to deliver the speed, modern UI, and AI-ready architecture our customers need. Rebuilding from the ground up removes old technical constraints and opens the door for faster innovation.
Why is the new Evolve a separate subscription?
Because it is a separate product, rebuilt with a new architecture, the new Evolve is licensed separately from Legacy Evolve. This allows us to support Legacy Evolve for as long as customers need it while continuing to invest heavily in the future of Evolve.
If I don't want to pay new Evolve after the preview period, what happens to my the courses I've created?
If you do not continue with a paid subscription after your 30-day preview, your new Evolve account will go dormant. Your courses will be preserved for at least 180 days so you can restore them if you decide to subscribe later.
